Success at National Synchronised Swimming Conference

The national Synchronised Swimming Conference took place during the weekend of 13 – 14 January 2018 at the Link Hotel in Loughborough.

The conference was a huge success with over 100 Judges, Coaches and Administrators from the Synchro Community attending. All regions within England were represented, along with attendees from Scotland and Wales.

Day one focused on the new FINA Rules with presentations on the new figures and elements that have been incorporated. There were also discussions regarding approaches to Judging, following the change that Level 2 and 3 Judges are now qualified to judge the new figures and grades.

Day two targeted Coach Training with presentations about periodisation and hints and tips on coaching the national standards. It also saw a break out session with Club and Regional Administrators which centred on the barriers to success and sharing individual stories of best practice.

Informative and useful

Commenting on the weekend, Chair of the Synchronised Swimming Leadership Team Maria Ramos, said: “The conference was a fabulous chance for everyone to get-together out of the usual pool environment and discuss the challenges and opportunities within Synchro and learn about the new information from FINA as we start a new four-year cycle.

It was wonderful to see so many people from all around the country and from all difference sizes of clubs actively engaged in the development of the sport.”
