Team GB swimmers improve again in Free Combination

The British synchronised swimming team brought their Baku 2015 European Games campaign to a close with another improved final performance at the Baku Aquatics Centre.

Following yesterday’s ninth in the Team and 12th in the Duet, the Team GB swimmers secured a 10th place finish in the Free Combination.

They improved by exactly a point to score 75.9000 in the final.

Our performances across both team finals have been really strong.

Genevieve Randall also finished 13th in the Solo after the prelims. She placed 10th for the first international performance of her new Free routine with a score of 76.2333 before dropping narrowly out of the top 12 after the Figures.

Learning curve for young squad

While the girls might not have taken home any medals, this multi-sport competition has been a huge learning curve for them.

As one of the youngest squads in the competition, and juggling GCSE exams, training and competition all at once, they showed great potential after improving on last year’s European campaign.

“Our performances across both team finals have been really strong,” said Randall. “As our first multi-sport championships, we’ve learned so much and will take this experience and use it to motivate us going forward.

“We’re very proud to have represented Team GB and done our country proud.”
