Welland and Blinkhorn win Duet gold at Scottish Nationals

Anna Welland and Isobel Blinkhorn starred to land Duet gold at the Scottish National Age Group Championships in Glasgow.

The Reading Royals pair impressed to score 64.6332 for their free routine in Scotland, claiming the 13-15 Yrs Duet crown on 127.6517.

It was an improvement of more than two points for the English synchronised swimmers from October’s South Multi-Regional Age Group Championships where Welland and Blinkhorn won bronze in a Royals clean sweep of the podium.

Having won gold at the Midlands Multi-Regionals earlier in October, Rugby landed the 13-15 Yrs Team title.

City of Bristol received the highest free routine score of the day with 62.6000 but Rugby’s 62.3000 was enough to see them claim the title on 119.6787 from Bristol’s 119.1065.

Blinkhorn claimed her second gold in the Solo event, scoring 64.7998 for her routine to finish on 128.8665.

Welland received the highest Solo free routine score of the day with 64.8332 to land bronze on 126.8035. City of Leeds’ Millicent Costello split the pair with 64.0333 for her routine to finish on 127.3222 for silver.

Blinkhorn and Crass win competitive U12 Duet

There was more success for the Blinkorn family in the youngest U12 Yrs age group as Eleanor Blinkhorn won double gold.

Having won Multi-Regional gold earlier in October, Blinkhorn and Beatrice Crass topped the Duet podium again in Glasgow.

The Reading Royals pair scored 58.6668 for their free routine to finish on 120.2513.

Midlands Multi-Regional champions Olivia Baker and Robyn Swatman pushed Blinkhorn and Crass close.

The Walsall pair scored the highest free routine score of the day with 59.7668 but a lower figures score of 60.4845 saw them fall just 0.3 points shy of gold as they finished on 120.2513.

City of Salford claimed the U12 Team title in Glasgow, scoring more than two points clear of the field with 59.3000 for their free routine to finish on 115.1716.

Blinkhorn’s second title came with 62.5999 for her Solo free routine to finish on 125.6666.

Walsall’s Swatman once again emerged as Blinkhorn’s nearest rival, scoring the highest free routine of the day with 63.0332 to win silver on 123.3265.

Just as in the 13-15 Yrs age group, City of Leeds claimed Solo bronze as Tilly Budd scored 59.4999 for her routine to finish on 121.5178.

Bristol claim junior Team crown

City of Bristol narrowly beat City of Leeds to claim the Team title in the junior age group.

The Southern club scored 66.3667 for their free routine to win gold on 124.8310. Leeds were just 0.4310 points back after scoring 64.8667 for their routine to finish on 124.4000.

Leeds went one better in the junior Solo as last year’s 15-18 Yrs ASA National Age Group bronze medallist Rebecca Richardson won gold.

Richardson was a class above on the day, scoring 69.3002 to finish on 136.7297 – more than 10 points clear of the field in her age group.

Leeds also picked up the junior Duet title as Georgia Fielding and Chloe McLelland scored 63.8333 for their free routine to claim gold on 122.9579.

The senior Solo crown went to Rugby’s Gemma Broad, who scored 64.1331 for her free routine and 64.4213 for her tech routine.
