Salford close day one with Combo gold

City of Salford topped the podium for the final event of day one of the 2014 ASA National Age Group Synchronised Swimming Championships in the Recreational 15-17 Yrs Team Combination.

Our coaches helped so much behind the scenes and the team manager has also been amazing.

The team from Greater Manchester turned the tables on last year’s performance where they scooped silver, performing to an upbeat Irish-themed piece in an energetic but precise routine.

Praising the wider support network, team member Charlotte Moore said: “The routine went really well. Everyone swam so great. Our coaches helped so much behind the scenes and the team manager has also been amazing. We wanted to really drive today and be the best for them.”

Teammate Emily Shaw also commented: “We weren’t expecting a score like that. It was a big surprise, but it’s one we are obviously very happy with. We feel on top of the world now.”

Rearranging the podium from 2013, bronze medallists Halifax SC claimed silver with last year’s gold medallists Bristol Central SC taking the final place on the rostrum.
