In the penultimate event of the opening day at the 2014 ASA National Age Group Synchronised Swimming Championships in Glcouester, Walsall Synchronised SC took their second medal of the day winning gold in the 19 and under team combination.
The lifts went really well today and it felt like we really pulled together as a team.
Following on from bronze in the 12 and under combination, the Walsall team performed their fast-paced routine to a Queen medley showing control and good height out of the water on lifts.
Danielle Spiller, Eleanor Holder, Elizabeth Colbourne, Kate Reynolds, Madelainie Broadhurst, Olivia Clarke, Philippa Dolby and Tara McGuirk made use of the entire pool with fluid transitions for a final score of 61.3333.
“That felt great and really exciting in the water,” said Colbourne. “We were all quite nervous beforehand and we all felt a little sick with nerves.”
Holder added: “The lifts went really well today and it felt like we really pulled together as a team and swam well together today. That’s the fourth time we’ve competed that routine this year and it was definitely the best.”
With second and third place too close to call, Rushmoor Synchro SC and City of Birmingham SC shared the honours, both taking silver medals with 60.5000.
In the Recreational 18/19 Yrs Duet, City of Birmingham’s Madison Griffith and Hannah Smith were the only entrants but impressed to beat the 60 point marker and score 60.1667.
