Woughton Leisure Trust is the latest organisation to implement the asa’s National Plan for Teaching Swimming (NPTS) at its pool in Milton Keynes.
The new five-year deal will see the organisation working in partnership with the national governing body until 2013.
The agreement to use the NPTS, a template for learn to swim schemes, means the centre will use the highest quality syllabus and awards system. The plan is a comprehensive and progressive teaching programme based upon sound technical and educational principles.
The National Plan will run alongside the asa Kellogg’s Awards Scheme and looks set to benefit over 400 children and adults that currently access swimming lessons at Woughton Leisure Centre.
The Trust, a registered charity, have been running swimming lessons for over twenty years at the centre which is located in an area of social deprivation. It has close links with Linslade Crusaders Swim Club.
Woughton Leisure Trust’s Swimming Pool Manager Wayne Davies is looking forward to bringing high standards of coaching to children that need and appreciate it.
“We are delighted to be signing up to the most recognised Learn to Swim Scheme in the country which can only serve those that it is intended for best. We chose the asa because we consider the organisation a trusted partner to deliver our programme”.
The asa Business Team Manager Mandy Mason welcomes Woughton Leisure Trust on board.
"The asa is committed to providing our partners with the support they need to deliver quality learn to swim programmes,” she said. “We are pleased to welcome Woughton Leisure Trust’s Swim Scheme and our Business Team will be working closely with them to ensure they build on their current success whilst using the National Plan for Teaching Swimming and the asa Kellogg's Awards Scheme."
