 COMPETITIVE SWIMMING PERFORMANCE
CLUBS & SCHOOLS - PLEASE NOTE!!
It is desirable that swimmers acquire good skills in starts, strokes, turns and finishes of the relevant stroke before they are asked to swim quickly.
ASA Competitiver Stroke awards should be encouraged to confirm this level of competence.
It should be noted that all times are consistent with the ASA Graded Swimming Times and that Gold Standards approximate to average county age group qualifying times for 12year old boys. When this level is reached, there is a good chance that these swimmers would qualify at county level. Platinum awards are normally used by clubs and squads as improvement indicators for group progressions.
These Awards have been developed in conjunction with the British Swimming Coaches and Teachers AssociationBefore attempting these awards, it is desirable that swimmers have achieved The Competitive Start Award. The quality of swimming technique should comply with the expectations of the Competitive Stroke Awards.
THESE AWARDS MAY BE ACHIEVED IN COMPETITION OR ORGANISED TIME TRIALS HELD AT SCHOOL OR AT A SWIMMING CLUB.
For further detailed information and test conditions please refer to the ASA Teacher's Toolkit which is available at £25.00.
