COMPETITIVE START

The introduction of the Preliminary Competitive Start Award ensures swimmers develop the ability to perform safe racing dives from the pool side, and starting blocks, initailly into deep water, and from the side into shallow water. A swimmer can then progress to the Competitive Start Award, demonstrating a safe racing start into shallow water from a starting block, and a variety of starting techniques.
