The university also offers sports scholarships for national or international level athletes. They have a bespoke strength and conditioning centre while the water polo teams train at Cardiff International Pool.

Cardiff University offer a High Performance Programme designed to benefit elite performance athletes by supporting their academic study and sporting careers simultaneously.

Students receiving Cardiff University Water Polo Scholarships may receive a financial bursary if they can demonstrate the necessary sporting achievements at national or international level.

Scholars will receive branded kit, gym and fitness membership, access to physiotherapy, sport science support, S&C training, psychology and massage.

Cardiff University also offer core stability screening and advice from a performance sport officer as well as access to various performance workshops and presentations throughout the year.

Sports Facilities at the Cardiff University

If you receive a Cardiff University Water Polo Scholarship, you will be entitled to free membership of all the Cardiff University sports facilities, including the Strength and Conditioning Centre – Park Place, the Fitness and Squash Centre – Senghennydd Road and the Sports Training Village – Talybont.

The Strength & Conditioning Centre is fitted with performance, strength and conditioning in mind, allowing athletes to maximise their sporting potential.

There are eight high performance power racks and lifting platforms with Olympic standard bars & plates, increased free-wight capacity, a push/pull power sled run and plate loaded resistance kit.

Cardiff University Water Polo teams train at Cardiff International Pool, a world class 50m Olympic swimming pool in Cardiff International Sports Village.
