England secure victory at BWPL international

England beat Scotland 9-4 at the BWPL-hosted international at Ponds Forge in Sheffield on 11 February.

The English side were a force to be reckoned with from the outset. Goalkeeper Peter Pickford put in some great saves which sparked some fast counter attacks.

They notched up a 5-0 lead by the end of the second period thanks to goals from Jordan Elliot, Dan Paddon, Jake Vincent and Ryan Padbury.

However, their Scottish rivals were not deterred. Chris Campbell slipped one in the back of the net during extra time from a man-up chance. This still left England four goals up going into the second half.

Elliot scores second half hat-trick

Though Scotland were first to score in the third period and looked more confident, England pulled no punches.

Elliot soon returned fire for the only hat-trick of the match, and Tom Curwen and Captain Rob Parker took the score to 8-2 by the end of the quarter.

The final quarter was quite the battle. Despite an early goal from England, Scotland fought fiercely for possession and seemed to have turned themselves around.

The Scots put behind two goals from distance, thanks to hot shots from Callum Bailey and Finlay Nesbitt. It was too little too late however. England emerged victorious, the score 9-4 in their favour.
