The university offers a wide range of scholarships involving a bursary and sport science support. A number of English water polo players have received scholarships from the university in recent years.

Manchester Metropolitan University Water Polo Scholarships

A range of high performance sports scholarships and bursaries are available through the Manchester Metropolitan University Sport Scholarship Programme.

The university offers bespoke support packages to recognise the individual needs of the athlete which is driven by the athlete, their coach or coaches and the Performance Sport team at the university.

Students with a Manchester Metropolitan University Water Polo Scholarship could receive up to a 20 per cent reduction in fees as well as sport science support, strength and conditioning, physiotherapy, soft tissue massage, leisurewear, travel support and academic liaison services, worth up to £3,000 a year.

Students with a Manchester Metropolitan University Water Polo Scholarship will receive full access to the Manchester Aquatics Centre.

Players can also benefit from training sessions with the City of Manchester Water Polo Team.

Sports Facilities at the Manchester Metropolitan University

Manchester Metropolitan University’s main gym is based at the Platt Lane Sports Complex and features a multi-station gym, free weights area, spin studio and strength and conditioning suite.

The university also has fitness facilities at the Sugden Sports Centre including a 100-station gym and a weights area.

The water polo club train and compete at the world class facility of Manchester Aquatics Centre, which hosted the 2002 Commonwealth Games.

Manchester Aquatics Centre has a 50m pool as well as training pools, sauna and steam room, and gym and weights area.
