The university has a tradition of sporting excellence and offers seven different sporting scholarships, four of which are open to applications from water polo players.

University of Bath Water Polo Scholarships

There are seven different scholarships available at the University of Bath, ranging from £1,000 to £5,000 a year, although only four of these would accept applicants from water polo.

Water polo players hoping to receive a University of Bath Water Polo Scholarship must demonstrate the potential to compete at an elite level internationally and be recommended by the university’s water polo coach. There are also certain pre-requisites for each scholarship.

The Bill Whiteley Scholarship offers a bursary of £5,000 a year but is only available to students from the UK or EU studying on a full-time undergraduate degree in the School of Management, Faculty of Engineering & Design or Department of Economics.

The King Scholarship offers a bursary of £4,000 a year and is available to athletes studying in the School of Management or a sport-related course in the Department for Health.

Athletes receiving a Thomas Education Trust Scholarship receive £1,250 per year for two years and must be a British citizen studying in the Faculty of Science or Department of Health.

Finally, the Santander Sports Scholarship holds a bursary of up to £1,000 but is only available to students from Ibero-American or Iberian Peninsula countries.

Sports Facilities at the University of Bath

Students with University of Bath Water Polo Scholarships will be able to make use of the university’s £30 million Sports Training Village in the heart of its campus.

The University of Bath Sports Training Village features indoor and outdoor facilities to accommodate more than 50 sports, a London 2012 Olympic Legacy 50m swimming pool and both high performance and fitness gyms.

The University of Bath gym offers 57 pieces of cardiovascular equipment, including 12 treadmills, 11 cross-trainers and 10 rowing machines as well as 45 strength stations with a range of free and fixed weights.

Athletes on world class performance programmes also have exclusive access to the Performance Gym, which includes video feedback and integrated systems to provide immediate feedback on strength and power outputs.
