University of Edinburgh Water Polo Scholarships

The University of Edinburgh offer a number of scholarships through their Individual Performance Programme.

To be considered for a University of Edinburgh Water Polo Scholarship, applicants must be competing at junior international standard or better and they would be expected to represent the university in British University and College Sport (BUCS) competitions.

Basic membership of the Individual Performance Programme includes supervised strength and conditioning support, injury prevention, Pilates sessions, massage, nutrition advice and psychology consultancy.

Recipients of the different University of Edinburgh Water Polo Scholarships will be awarded bursaries of between £250 and £1,000 (Eric Liddell High Performance Scholarship), £1,250 (Katherine Grainger Scholarship, Macaskill Family Scholarship) or £1,500 (Stockman Scholarship).

Water polo is also classed as a Tier 2 sport by the University of Edinburgh, meaning members of the university squad receive support through the Team Performance Programme.

Sports Facilities at the University of Edinburgh

The University of Edinburgh’s main gym and indoor fitness facilities are based at the Pleasance Sports Centre in the heart of the city.

Students receiving University of Edinburgh Water Polo Scholarships as members of the Individual Performance Programme will receive full gym membership at Pleasance Sports Centre as well as exclusive use of the Performance Gym.

The fitness suites at the Pleasance Sports Centre feature a 100-station cardiovascular suite, a body circuit gym, free weights gyms, a fixed-weight gym and body conditioning facilities.

The University of Edinburgh’s 25m, six-lane swimming pool is on the third floor of the St Leonard’s Land building, around the corner from the Pleasance Sports Centre.
