University of Bedfordshire Water Polo Scholarship

Map of University of BedfordshireThe University of Bedfordshire doesn’t currently have water polo teams, but does offer three levels of sports scholarships to top athletes.

The university has excellent sports facilities at its campuses in both Luton and Bedford. There is an Olympic-sized 50m pool at the Luton Sports Village.

University of Bedfordshire Water Polo Scholarships

University of Bedfordshire Water Polo Scholarships are given to students who have achieved the highest standard in their chosen sport or activity.

The awards are designed to support the student’s development in their chosen sport as well as supporting university sport.

There are three different levels of scholarship available – Platinum Performance, Gold Performance and Talented Performer – and water polo players are eligible to apply for any of the three.

The Platinum Performance Scholarship is the top level of support, including £1,000 bursary and membership of the university’s Aspire gym and strength and conditioning unit. Applicants are required to be on an existing world class or development programme and have competed at a senior international level within the past 12 months.

The Gold Performance Scholarship requires applicants to have competed at a junior international level while the bursary is £500 and gym membership is to the Alexander Sports Centre.

The Talented Performer Scholarship is aimed at athletes who have competed at a national level and while gym membership is not included, there is a bursary package of between £100 and £500.

Sports Facilities at the University of Bedfordshire

People successfully gaining a University of Bedfordshire Water Polo Scholarship will enjoy a host of fitness facilities at both Bedford and Luton sites.

Scholarship and bursary offers may include membership to the Alexander Sports Centre based on the Bedford campus which includes cardiovascular and resistance equipment, and a free weights area.

The top level of scholarship includes membership to the two Aspire gyms in Luton and Bedford respectively.

The university uses Robinson Pool located in Bedford Park for swimming while the new Inspire: Luton Sports Village is a state of the art, multi-sport facility featuring an eight-lane 50m pool.
