Defending champs Solihull progress from Group B

Solihull win Boys U19 Prelims

Defending champions Solihull eased through Group B of the ASA National Age Group Water Polo Championships Boys U19 Prelims.

The West Midlands outfit, who lifted their first ASA Boys U19 title in the club’s history last year, beat Watford, City of Manchester B and City of Leeds to top the group on six points.

While they lost the much-anticipated rematch of last year’s final against City of Manchester A by 5-4, Solihull topped the group courtesy of their superior goal difference.

Jordan Elliot and Ben Greenhill were both on form in front of goal, each scoring 12 times from their four games.

City of Manchester A progressed through in second place, their only defeat of the group stage a 4-3 loss against hosts Watford, who went through in third as the top three sides all gained six points from four games.

City of Manchester B won the crunch tie against local rivals City of Leeds to claim the fourth and final qualification spot.

The top four will now compete in the Qualification round on 11 – 12 April while City of Leeds will head to the Finals weekend on 25 – 26 April for the Plate competition.
