Last year’s runners-up City of Manchester marked themselves as the team to beat at this year’s NAG Water Polo Championship Finals after winning the Girls’ U19 Qualification Group.
Having gone through their Prelims with two wins from two, Manchester maintained their unbeaten record as they secured three wins and a draw to book their spot at the finals, being held in their home pool over the weekend of 25 – 26 April.
It will be the same four finalists in the Girls’ U19 Championships as 12 months ago as last year’s bronze medallists Otter progressed in second with Crawley third and defending champions City of Liverpool fourth.
After impressive victories over City of Leeds and Otter on Saturday, it was a rematch of last year’s final where Manchester were finally matched as North West rivals Liverpool held them to a 12-12 draw.
But while Liverpool were the only side to take anything from Manchester, it took them until their final match to secure qualification themselves, a 13-6 defeat of City of Leeds on Sunday confirming their spot as fourth qualifiers.
