Stage set for U17 Qualifiers in Walsall

William Cleal Exeter Water Polo

All eyes will be on Walsall this weekend for the 2015 ASA National Age Group Water Polo Boys’ and Girls’ U17 Qualifiers.

The Boys’ event looks set to come down to the wire with little to choose between the six teams from their Prelim results.

Last year’s Plate winners Exeter – who won back-to-back titles in 1999 and 2000 – were the only unbeaten side from the previous round. They will take on the two sides who competed in last year’s bronze medal match, Watford and City of Manchester, with the top two progressing.

The other group sees last year’s U15 champions Sedgefield aiming to progress after winning their Prelim group.

The North East side will face last year’s runners-up Invicta and last year’s Plate runners-up Solihull.

Final four to battle for seedings in Girls’ U17s

The Girls’ finalists have already been decided but the four teams will battle it out for Finals seedings this weekend.

Three of last year’s four finalists will be competing again in the form of defending champions Otter, three-time champions City of Liverpool and six-time champions City of Manchester.

Exeter will be the fourth team in this year’s Finals, looking to become only the fifth side to lift the title.
