The Hurly Burly (Bwrlwm Bermo) is an autumn 10k held on the Mawddach estuary in North Wales on 28 September 2019 – with a run and a run-swim option
Likely to be the fastest 10k you’ll ever do, it is also billed as “the most beautiful swim we have ever found” by The Outdoor Swimming Society.
The swim starts on the sandy beach of Barmouth, and takes swimmers underneath Barmouth Bridge, a mile and an iconic half wide railway bridge.
The first part of the swim is up the wide and sandy estuary with mountains on either side, and then it’s through ‘the narrows’ and into a more sheltered and pastoral part of the estuary, finishing with fire pits and good times at Penmaenpool.
The whole swim takes place on a fast, incoming Spring tide that works like a bore to assist the swim your swim.
For swimmers with a 35 minute mile and under. Skin swimmers welcome by application.
