Swim England Land Based Coach – Blended – Talbot Heath School
The Swim England Land Based Coach certificate develops the knowledge, understanding and practical skills needed to be a land based coach for all aquatic disciplines.
Is this course right for me?
This is for anyone who holds the Swim England Coach certificate in swimming, diving, water polo or artistic swimming or equivalent.
Alternative strength and conditioning qualifications may be considered for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). To see if your qualification would be suitable for RPL, please email a copy of your certificate to [email protected].
What can I expect during my course?
Webinars – Your tutor will go through the theory topics and set assessment tasks to prepare you for your practical sessions.
Practical sessions – Your tutor will go through any remaining theory topics, and you will have the opportunity for both peer and assessed practical delivery of land based sessions.
What will I learn?
During the course, your tutor will be covering the following topics:
Roles and responsibilities of delivering land based sessions
Risk assessments for a land based session
The stages of participant development
Anatomy and physiology
The principles of training
Fundamental movement patterns
The different land based training methods
Common injuries linked to aquatics
Planning, delivery, and evaluation of land-based training
Planning for professional development
How will I be assessed
You will be assessed by your tutor throughout your course against the specification criteria, please note this certificate is delivered and assessed in English. You will also need to complete assessment tasks, some of which will be in your own time. These include, but are not limited to:
Eight written theoretical questions
Four written session plans
Practical delivery of a land based sessions
A written self-evaluation
A written individual development plan
Your tutor will provide you with deadlines for the assessment to be submitted and completed by. All deadlines must be met to meet the certificate standard.
What happens next?
Upon successfully meeting all assessment criteria, it will take six to eight weeks for your certificate to be issued. An electronic copy of your certificate will be emailed to you.
If at the end of the course, you have not successfully met the certificate standard your tutor will provide you with feedback and guidance. You will then go through our reassessment process and have 12 months from the start date of your chosen course to complete this. Please note, if you do have to go through our reassessment process there may be additional fees associated with this.
