Swim England Safeguarding in Aquatics – Webinar

This course will provide you with an understanding of your role, duty and responsibility in relation to safeguarding everyone within your organisation. 
 
During this course, you will be asked to think about different types of harm that children and adults can experience. You may have your own lived experience of harm and abuse and may find some of the content in this course difficult and upsetting. Should you wish to have a chaperone with you, please tell your tutor before the course. 
 
Is this course right for me?  
 
The Swim England Safeguarding in Aquatics training was developed and written for Swim England affiliated Clubs, Swim Schools and Organisation Members who hold a role which requires a DBS check. 
  
Should you come from a non-Swim England setting and choose to attend our course, please be aware that this course is bespoke to Swim England. We recommend you follow up with your employer to ensure you are aware of the safeguarding policy, procedures, and reporting procedures applicable to your business.  
  
What can I expect?  
 
This is a three hour interactive webinar, led by a Swim England licensed tutor.  
  
What will I learn? 
 
During the course, your tutor will be covering the following topics:  
 
What safeguarding, child protection and harm means 
Key legislation and guidance in relation to safeguarding 
The importance of Swim England’s Wavepower policy and procedures 
What best practice means 
What adult safeguarding means 
The importance of professional boundaries and position of trust 
Identify the types, signs and symptoms of abuse and harm 
Recognise, react, respond, and report concerns 
 
What happens next?  
 
After completing your course, it will take up to three weeks for your certificate to be issued and added to your membership record. An electronic copy of your certificate will be emailed to you and it is valid for three years.
