Amersham Swimming Club in Buckinghamshire is looking to appoint alead swimming teacher to join our experienced coaching team. The successful applicant will lead our stroke development programme and support swimmers subsequent transition into our competitive squads. This role takes on the responsibilities of both lead swimming teacher and assistant swimming coach.
The club has a long standing successful swim school that feeds into our competitive programme, which has success at county, regional and national level. The club is currently at an exiting and historic moment as we move to our brand new leisure centre in November 2021.
To lead our Stroke Development programme (running on Saturday mornings), teaching swimmers from stages 3-6 to develop technical skills and confidence in the water, that then enables a transition into competitive swimming. The candidate will plan sessions, manage communication to parents, organise assessments and schedule new member trials. You will also then continue to support swimmers transition into our academy squads, coaching further sessions during the week alongside our experienced coaching team.
The role currently offers 6-12 poolside hours a week at venues in Gerrards Cross and Amersham.
The contract may be offered as part time or self employed.
The candidate should be an experienced swimming teacher (or coach) holding a minimum Level 2 Swimming Teacher qualification, with knowledge of the Swim England and STA frameworks. Coaching experience is desirable as you will assist the swimmers transition into our competitive programme. A passion for supporting and developing swimmers to reach their potential with positivity, knowledge and commitment is crucial. Effective communication with swimmers, parents and fellow staff is also imperative.
