Strong English form at first two Diving World Series legs

English divers secured five medals across the first two legs of the FINA/NVC Diving World Series 2016.

The divers competed against some of the best in the world in both Beijing and Dubai and gained important competitive experience as we look ahead to the European Championships in May and this summer’s Olympic Games.

First medal for Couch and Toulson

In their first international competition as a pair, Tonia Couch and Lois Toulson secured 10m Synchro silver with a total score of 317.46.

The new pair saved their best dive for last, scoring 79.68 for their Inward 3 1/2 Somersaults tucked.

Tom Daley and Dan Goodfellow won bronze in the men’s 10m Synchro with a score of 420.15. Their best dive was a Back 3 1/2 Somersaults piked which scored 85.32 points.

Jack Laugher and Chris Mears finished in sixth place overall with a total score of 404.40.

Daley and Goodfellow continue to impress

Daley and Goodfellow continued to impress as the moved on to the Dubai leg of the FINA/NVC Diving World Series 2016.

The pair, who made their international debut at the Olympic qualification event last month, took silver following another consistent performance.

They received their best score (87.48) for their Back 3 1/2 Somersaults piked – more than two points higher than in Beijing –  and finished with an overall total of 428.91 points.

Tonia Couch and Lois Toulson win bronze in Dubai

Couch and Toulson were also on the podium again after winning bronze in the women’s 10m Synchro.

The pair’s best dive was their Inward 3 1/2 Somersaults tucked which scored them 74.88 points and they finished with a total of 311.76.

City of Leeds duo Mears and Laugher won their first medal of 2016 with bronze in the 3m Synchro.

They scored a total of 424.92 and saved their best dive for last, receiving 90.06 for their Front 4 1/2 Somersaults tucked.
