Rebecca Gallantree narrowly misses out semi-final spot

Rebecca Gallantree narrowly missed out on a place in the Rio 2016 3m Springboard semi-final after finishing 20th with an overall score of 296.65.

Gallantree opened her individual Olympic campaign with a Front 2.5 Somersaults 1 Twist piked and scored a solid 58.50.

The City of Leeds diver ended on a high, posting 63.00 – her highest score of the prelims – for her final Inward 2.5 Somersaults piked before a nervous wait to see if she had progressed through to the semi-final.

Earlier in the week, Gallantree lined up alongside her synchro partner, Alicia Blagg, for the 3m Synchro event.

The Commonwealth gold and European silver medallists started the competition well, eventually finishing in sixth place overall with a total of 292.83 points.
