Swim England talent divers prepare for major championships at training camp

Divers on the Swim England Talent Programme will be gearing up their preparations for their major event of the year during a training camp.

Members of Team Y will be reviewing their performances so far this season and making plans for rest of the campaign during the five-day camp at the Plymouth Life Centre between Wednesday 20 February and Sunday 24 February.

Their focus will be on preparing for the British Elite Junior Diving Championships, which takes place at the Ponds Forge International Sports Centre between 11-14 April.

During the training camp, athletes will look at the areas they can improve on ahead of the championships.

They will also take part in dryland and pool exercises, a range of technical and tactical diving specific workshops, anti-doping sessions run by UKAD and sports psychology training.

The camp is being held at the same time as a British Diving Camp, giving England talent athletes the chance to train alongside some of the best divers in the country.

Suzie Collins, Swim England Talent Development Officer for Diving, said: “Team Y have enjoyed a great start to the season with some excellent performances in the recent British National Diving Cup.

“The training camp will give us a chance to review these performances and hopefully give them the confidence and expertise to go and improve on them at the British Elite Junior Diving Championships in April.

“Holding the camp at the same time as the British elite divers will be a bog boost for the group and they should use it as an incentive to spur them on to show what they can do.”

Four members of Team Y – Desharne Bent-Ashmeil, Callie Eaglestone, Evie Smith and Andrea Spendolini-Siriex – all reached finals at the British National Diving Cup.
