2021 Regional Championship Update

Swimming and Open Water

Due to the current circumstances the Regional groups have had to make the difficult decision to cancel the Swimming and Open Water Championships for 2021.

The group is looking ahead to run a Regional event on 31st July 2021 and 1st August 2021 at Harvey Hadden, Nottingham, under the Festival of Swimming banner recently published by Swim England and British Swimming.

The current plan is to have the sessions grouped by age and gender to allow for the management of swimmers under any restrictions which may remain. The allowance of any spectators is currently unknown.

Whilst the group continues with planning the event, we understand our members will be keen to engage with this, however we appreciate your patience regarding the programme, conditions and consideration standards. We will circulate further details as soon as these have been confirmed.

The event going ahead is very much dependent on guidance and restrictions provided by the Government and Swim England, which we will not know until we progress further along the Government road map.

The 2022 Midlands Open Water Championships is planned for Sunday 3rd July 2022 at Spring Lakes, Nottingham https://www.springlakes.co.uk We would like to thank Spring Lakes for their support and understanding during this time, they are currently open and are offering a wide range of open water swimming and water sports activities.

At this point we are also expecting to run the 2021 Regional Short Course Championships in November as usual.
