Maggie Hopes Olympic Success Will Leave Erewash Residents #Inspiredtotry Swimming

With the action underway at the Tokyo Aquatics Centre, and following the gold medal win for Team GB’s Adam Peaty who trains with the City of Derby swimming club, the MP for the Erewash constituency is hoping that the Olympics will leave local people #InspiredToTry swimming.

Comment on Team GB’s ‘Magic Monday’ success, Maggie said: “I send my warmest congratulations to local lad Adam Peaty on another amazing gold medal win, as well as to all the other Olympic athletes who are representing our Country and making the nation proud.  Hopeful today’s medal haul is just the start and I am very much looking forward continuing to cheer on Team GB as the action continues.

“We are extremely fortunate to have a two amazing swimming clubs in both Ilkeston and Long Eaton, and I hope the excitement of the Olympics will provide the motivation for residents to be #InspiredToTry any of the fantastic sports of swimming, para swimming, diving, water polo, open water swimming or artistic swimming.”
