Upcoming webinars from the Institute of Swimming and Swim England

The wellbeing of our swimming community is our priority and over the coming weeks, we want to provide opportunities to keep in touch.

Here are our upcoming home-based learning and activities for you to get involved with.

Swim England ‘Not on the Road Shows’

With us all staying indoors, Swim England have moved their regular regional roadshows to webinars, for free. We will be supporting Swim England by delivering popular topics such as An Introduction to Lesson Management and An Introduction to Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

These free webinars will fill up fast so make sure you get them in your diary! You can see the full list of ‘Not on the Road Shows’ on the Swim England website.

Upcoming Webinars

Over the next few months, we will be delivering our popular suite of Swim England Qualifications accredited CPD seminars online as interactive webinars. These will be open for bookings soon.

A webinar is an interactive online seminar that is led by the tutor and allows participants in different locations to be guided through the course content, hear the presenter, ask questions and be involved in group text discussions.

All our webinars will be hosted on Zoom. We have created a guide to Zoom webinars to help prepare.

Guide to Zoom Webinars

We have already run our first set of webinars covering Integrating Autistic Children into Mainstream Swimming Lessons and Integrating Swimmers with a Physical/Sensory Impairment into Mainstream Swimming Lessons. These webinars were very popular so we will be running them again. Lorinda Knott who took part in our first webinar said:

The online training with the Institute of Swimming was excellent, very easy to set up and navigate, I was part of a large training group and we were all able to take part and contribute using the video, audio and whiteboard facilities. I think this online face to face training is the way of the future!

In addition to these, we are creating a set of bespoke bite-sized online workshops supported by Swim England. These will cover popular topics outside of our traditional suite of CPDs. We will be announcing these shortly.

Teaching Qualifications and Coaching Certificates

It is really important to us that everyone has the opportunity to start their training.

To enable this, we’ll soon be offering the online element of our blended learning course to those who want to book onto an SEQ Level 1 or 2 Teaching Swimming or Swim England Coaching course over the next few months. This will allow you to work through the theoretical elements of the course online at home, at your own pace, over the coming weeks and months.

We will then arrange the practical training once the leisure centres can open.
