The academy gives trainee teachers the chance to embark on a career as a swimming teacher for only £79, compared to the usual cost of over £1,000.

Successful applicants who join the academy will complete their SEQ Level 1 Swimming Assistant (Teaching) and Level 2 Teaching Swimming qualifications.

We support trainees through their training journey with membership and free access to our introduction to swimming strokes online CPDs.

In between the courses, there is a period of volunteering with a potential employer to gain practical experience. Trainees also benefit from CPDs to help them develop as well as getting expert advice and support from a mentor to ensure they have the necessary experience for the role and are ready to hit the poolside well equipped to teach.

Teaching Swimming is an active and rewarding role. Work hours are generally part-time; 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm weekdays, and weekend mornings from 8:00 am – 2.00 pm.

For these roles, there may be the opportunity to work across several leisure centres, in the following locations;

• Bourne Leisure Centre, Queens Road, Bourne, Lincolnshire, PE10 9DX
• Deepings Leisure Centre, Park Road, Deeping St James, Peterborough, PE6 8NF
• Grantham Meres Leisure Centre, Trent Road, Grantham Lincolnshire, NG31 7XQ
• Stamford Leisure Pool, Drift Road, Stamford, Lincolnshire, PE9 1UZ

Once qualified successful trainees will be employed as swimming teachers by 1Life.

Course Itinerary

Applications close on 10th May 2020 and those shortlisted will be interviewed on 18th May 2020. Courses will be allocated after a successful meet and greet with 1Life.
