In between the courses, there is a period of volunteering with a potential employer to gain practical experience. Trainees also benefit from CPDs to help them develop as well as getting expert advice and support from a mentor to ensure they have the necessary experience for the role and are ready to hit the poolside well equipped to teach.

Teaching Swimming is an active and rewarding role. Work hours are generally part-time; 3:45 pm to 7:00 pm weekdays, and weekends from 8:45 am to 1.00 pm. For these roles, there may be an opportunity to work across the following leisure centres in Blackpool.

Phone interviews will be taking place on 23rd November.

There will be an informal meet and greet with Active Blackpool, date to be confirmed.

You don’t need any prior qualifications to apply as you will be supported through your training.

Once you have joined the Academy, you will commence your swimming teacher journey, starting with the SEQ Level 1 Swimming Assistant (Teaching) course. You will have approximately 5 hours worth of e-learning to complete for the theory elements of your qualification. The specialist e-learning is split into bite-sized pieces, so you don’t have to do it all in one go. This means you can work through the course online at home, at your own pace. Once you have completed the theoretical elements you will then go on to a scheduled practical assessment.
