How does the academy work:

The academy gives trainee teachers the chance to embark on a career as a swimming teacher for only £85, compared to the usual cost of over £1,000.

Successful applicants who join the academy will complete their SEQ Level 1 Swimming Assistant (Teaching) and Level 2 Teaching Swimming qualifications.

We support trainees through their training journey with membership and free access to our introduction to swimming strokes online CPDs.

In between the courses, there is a period of volunteering with a potential employer to gain practical experience. Trainees also benefit from CPDs to help them develop as well as getting expert advice and support from a mentor to ensure they have the necessary experience for the role and are ready to hit the poolside well equipped to teach.

Teaching Swimming is an active and rewarding role. Work hours are generally part-time including weekday evenings and weekend mornings.  School swimming, and adult and child daytime sessions may also be available.

For these roles, there may be the opportunity to work at the following leisure centres:

• Grimsby Leisure Centre, Cromwell Rd, Grimsby DN31 2BH
• Cleethorpes Leisure Centre, Kingsway, Cleethorpes DN35 0BY
• Immingham Swimming Pool, Princess St, Immingham DN40 1LN

Once qualified successful trainees will be employed as swimming teachers by Lincs Inspire.

A Meet and Greet and interviews will be held on 10 May 2023.

You don’t need any prior qualifications to apply as you will be supported through your training, although we are accepting applications from those who are halfway through their swimming teacher training or already have their level 1 or 2 qualifications.

Once you have joined the Academy, you will commence your swimming teacher journey, starting with the SEQ Level 1 Swimming Assistant (Teaching) course.
