The academy allows aspiring swimming teachers to receive all their training for only £85, compared to the usual cost of over £1000. It includes a mentor to support your development and you will be matched with an employer.

About

Teaching swimming is an active and rewarding role. Work hours are generally part-time including weekday evenings and weekends. Some weekday term time hours may also be available to support school swimming.

Once qualified, successful trainees will be employed as swimming teachers by Places Leisure.

A DBS check will be required before starting your volunteering hours.

Application process

Applications for this academy have now closed. Please complete an expression of interest form if you would like to be notified of future academies in your area.

Shortlisted applicants will be given the opportunity to find out more about the swimming teacher opportunity at an informal virtual meet and greet session and interview that will take place after the closing date.

You don’t need any qualifications to apply as you will be supported through your training. However, we are accepting applications from those who are partway through their swimming teacher training or already have their Level 1 or 2 qualifications.

Your exciting new role as a Swimming Teacher will consist of working with customers, (sometimes on a one to one level) whilst motivating and instructing them in their lessons.
