As part of our academy, we are looking to train up swimming teachers in SheffieldApply to join the academy
If you want to become a swimming teacher and enjoy an active and rewarding role with Sheffield City Trust, then this is the perfect opportunity for you.
Our academy gives you the chance to embark on a career as a swimming teacher for only £79, compared to the usual cost of over £1,000.
We support trainees through their training journey with membership and free access to our introduction to swimming strokes online e-learning.
In between the courses, there is a period of volunteering with a potential employer to gain practical experience. Trainees also benefit from CPDs to help them develop as well as getting expert advice and support from a mentor to ensure they have the necessary experience for the role and are ready to hit the poolside well equipped to teach.
Teaching Swimming is an active and rewarding role. Work hours are generally part-time; 3:30 pm to 7:00 pm weekdays, and weekends from 8:00 am to 4.00 pm. For these roles, there may be an opportunity to work across the following leisure centres across Sheffield.
Once qualified successful trainees will be employed as swimming teachers by Sheffield City Trust on a casual or part-time basis.
Successful applicants will also receive National Rescue Award for Swimming Teachers and Coaches (NRASTC) training through Sheffield City Trust.
Applications close on 11th November 2020.
Phone interviews will be taking place on the 12th and 23rd November.
There will be an informal meet and greet on 2nd December 2020 over Zoom webinars.
You don’t need any prior qualifications to apply as you will be supported through your training.
Once you have joined the Academy, you will commence your swimming teacher journey, starting with the SEQ Level 1 Swimming Assistant (Teaching) course. You will have approximately 5 hours worth of e-learning to complete for the theory elements of your qualification. The specialist e-learning is split into bite-sized pieces, so you don’t have to do it all in one go. This means you can work through the course online at home, at your own pace. Once you have completed the theoretical elements you will then go on to a scheduled practical assessment.
