Apply to join the academy

Interviews will be taking place via Zoom.

There will be an informal meet and greet with the team at 1610 during the week starting 24th June 2021. This may be online depending on Covid-19 restrictions.

You don’t need any prior qualifications to apply as you will be supported through your training.

Once you have joined the Academy, you will commence your swimming teacher journey, starting with the SEQ Level 1 Swimming Assistant (Teaching) course. You will have approximately 5 hours worth of e-learning to complete for the theory elements of your qualification. The specialist e-learning is split into bite-sized pieces, so you don’t have to do it all in one go. This means you can work through the course online at home, at your own pace. Once you have completed the theoretical elements you will then go on to a scheduled practical assessment.
