The academy allows aspiring swimming teachers to receive all their training for only £85, compared to the usual cost of over £1000. It includes a mentor to support your development and you will be matched with an employer.

What’s included?

About

Teaching swimming is an active and rewarding role. Work hours are generally part-time including weekday evenings from 4pm t0 6pm or 7pm and Saturday mornings. Some weekday term time hours may also be available to support school swimming.

Once qualified, successful trainees will be employed as swimming teachers by Places Leisure.

A DBS check will be required before starting your volunteering hours.

Shortlisted applicants will be given the opportunity to find out more about the swimming teacher opportunity at an informal virtual meet and greet session and interview that will take place after the closing date.

You don’t need any qualifications to apply as you will be supported through your training. However, we are accepting applications from those who are partway through their swimming teacher training or already have their Level 1 or 2 qualifications.

Your exciting new role as a Swimming Teacher will consist of working with customers, (sometimes on a one to one level) whilst motivating and instructing them in their lessons. These lessons will be conducted ensuring they are operated to the legal standards at all times, whilst also creating a fun, inclusive and safe environment. A very important factor of this role will be to use your personality when engaging with customers whilst also offering them your knowledge and expertise, with regards to any queries they may have.
