This course develops your knowledge, skills and abilities as a swimming teacher. It builds on the SEQ Level 1 Swimming Assistant (Teaching) qualification and gives you the skills to independently plan and deliver swimming lessons.
Training format
While pools were closed, we adapted this qualification and split the theory and practical elements into two courses:
This course is the first half and covers the theory only.
The specialist e-learning is split into bite-sized pieces, so you don’t have to do it all in one go. This will mean you can work through the course online at home, in between the first and second webinar dates.
You will be supported through your e-learning with four webinars. These will be led by your tutor and you will be joined by others who have also begun their training.
The first webinar will help you kick-off your studies. You will then have time before the second webinar to complete the online learning. The second and third webinar will explore topics from within the qualification. This will also give you an opportunity to ask any questions you might have and share your experience of the course so far. The fourth webinar will cover the remaining aspects of your learning for this element of the qualification.
During this time you will have free access to the Swim England Expected Standards Videos and be able to contact your course tutor via email. Your tutor will be using Google classroom to support your lesson planning and learning, so you will need to create a google account. You will be guided through this and how to access the Swim England Expected Standards Videos in your first webinar.
You can see the full itinerary below. You will need to attend all sessions and please ensure that you are in a suitable learning environment with strong internet access.
Once you have completed your theoretical training you will then be able to book on to your practical sessions which will include more course content, your swimming lessons and assessment at the pool.
Course fees
As this qualification is split into theory and practical sessions, we are splitting the course fee into two separate payments.
When you start the course and begin your online learning, you will only have to pay £ 272.
Once you have finished all the theory, you can book your practical sessions and make your final payment of £ 408.
Course content
The course covers the theoretical elements and is delivered through a mixture of online learning and live interactive webinars.
