This course covers the skills needed to effectively plan, deliver, and evaluate a series of open water training sessions.
Who is the course designed for?
Anyone who is a Swim England Coach, Swimming Teacher or Triathlon Coach and who wants to become an independent open water coach.
Course content
The course is delivered through a mixture of online learning, zoom classroom activities, and practical learning, both poolside and in an open water environment.

You must be at least 18 years of age at the start of the course.
You must have one of the following qualifications:
- Swim England Assistant Swimming Coach
- Swim England Swimming Coach Certificate (or equivalent to include ASA Level 2 Certificate in Coaching Swimming)
- SEQ Level 2 Teaching Swimming (or ASA equivalent)
- 1st 4sport Level 2 Certificate in Coaching Triathlon (QCF)
- STA Level 2 Award in Teaching Swimming
- RLSS Pool to Pond award
- All learners must have experience of swimming in an open water environment.
Learners will be required to provide evidence of their pre-requisite qualification/course ahead of the start date.

This qualification is delivered and assessed in English.
