SEQ Level 1 Swimming Assistant (Teaching) - Practical Sessions Only

While pools were closed, we adapted this qualification and split the theory and practical elements into two courses.

This course covers the practical sessions and assessment and is for those who have already completed their theoretical training including e-learning and theory assessments.

Course format

  • Face to face days - During these sessions, the tutor will cover the remainder of your practical topics and planning for your swimming lessons. This will consist of a meet and greet, preparation, assisting at least two 30-minute swimming lessons, evaluation and feedback. You will be required to attend all sessions listed below

    The final payment to cover your practical sessions and assessment will be £255.

    Course content

    You will put the theory you have already learnt into practice and demonstrate:

    • The responsibilities of a Swimming Assistant
    • An understanding of the swimming pathway, fundamental movement, core aquatic skills and component parts of strokes
    • An understanding of the Scientific principles of swimming
    • What makes up a lesson plan, equipment and communications skills
    • How to identify anxiety and use of motivational techniques
    • The type of assistance you can provide
