Teaching Swimming to Learners with Physical & Sensory Impairments

This workshop is designed to give Level 1 and Level 2 teachers an understanding of how to teach swimmers with impairments. The course highlights the ways that teaching practices can be adapted to ensure that swimmers with physical or sensory impairments achieve the best that they can.

The CPD is for Swim England Level 1 or 2 swimming teachers

Format

This CPD is 3 hours long and delivered via Zoom.

Content

During this session you will learn about:

  • Being aware of any additional needs swimmers with a physical and/or sensory impairment(s) may have in order to learn to swim
  • Understanding what a physical impairment is
  • Understanding what a sensory impairment is
  • Being able to consider individual needs
  • Being able to use your existing knowledge when teaching an impaired swimmer (e.g. including BLABT)
  • Being able to assess swimmers’ needs
