Launch of new Swim England coaching certificates

The Institute of Swimming is launching a new set of Swim England coaching certificates this autumn which will help advance swimming coaching and support continued success on the world stage.

As one of the world’s leading swimming nations, our top coaches have a wealth of knowledge which has been incorporated into this programme, creating an accessible platform for current and aspiring coaches to learn from them.

The programme is divided into a set of certificates covering the four main disciplines (swimming, diving, synchronised swimming and water polo) going through three levels from Assistant Coach, Coach to Head Coach.

These have been developed with experts from British Swimming, Swim England and Institute of Swimming.

Grant Robins, Swim England Programmes Team Leader, has contributed to the certificates development and said:

With so many expert contributors to the new coaching framework, this is a programme fit for purpose. It will allow our coaching fraternity to ensure their continued professionalism by gaining a certificate that is up to date with current methodologies and technical content.

It will ultimately enhance the progression and performance of our future swimming champions, so as a nation we can continue to compete with the best in the world.

The programme contains the most relevant and up to date training techniques, building on an already successful coaching system. It gives learners the tools to apply this knowledge to coaching athletes at all levels; helping to improving their performance while keeping them committed to the sport. To keep the programme current and enable continuous improvement, the development team will be meeting regularly to update the content and delivery methods.
