Active Apprentice launched its Sector Skills Academies for Sport project in partnership with Vision West Nottinghamshire College and is available via partners, including the Institute of Swimming.
The Sector Skills Academies project will offer the opportunity to support you in starting a career in the Sport and Physical Activity Sector. It will offer the opportunity to study courses that deliver knowledge and skills for critical industry roles, and potentially gain valuable, sustainable employment and in areas such as Swimming Teaching.
You will be introduced to swimming teaching knowledge and skills via our online e-learning platform, with knowledge checks and assessment preparation throughout, providing you with all of the required skills to be able to proceed to a separate practical assessment.
All candidates will need to pay a small administration fee to enrol.
Funded training will be available to all candidates in England that meet the eligibility criteria, and funding will cover the knowledge and skills part of your training.
You can then choose to book the practical assessment if you decide to pursue the career opportunity further. At this point, registration and assessment costs will need to be paid for by either yourself or your employer. The learning sessions alone do not qualify or certificate you as a swimming teacher.
If they meet the above, funding is awarded on different levels detailed below, but all candidates will need to the pay the enrolment fee plus registration and assessment cost if certification is required:
To confirm eligibility and the level of funding, candidates will need to complete an eligibility form, where Active Apprentice will assess eligibility for funding. You will also be asked to upload photo identification as part of this process.
