Start your love swimming journey today21/10/2019
There’s never been a better time to learn to swim as an adult! Whether you’re returning to the pool after a prolonged break, you’re training for a triathlon or swimming event, or you’re starting out on your swimming journey for the first time – join many others in taking the plunge today!
Adult swimming lessons for just that – swimming lessons that are tailored to the needs of adults. Your swimming teacher will have undergone additional training to be able to adapt the lessons to your individual needs, whatever they may be.
Take your first step into adult swimming lessons
Your first step is to find your local swimming pool that offers adult sessions. Finding a good time for you and your family is important and lessons take place during early mornings, daytime and in the evening. You just need to find the one that’s right for you – just pop in your post code below!
Take a friend or make ones when you arrive
Just like learning or developing any new skill as an adult, it can be daunting at first. Will I make friends? Will everyone know more than me? Will I be on my own?! Find a friend to go with or be confident that others there will be thinking similar thoughts as you.
But don’t take our word for it, Vicki from Felixstowe has shared her story about taking up swimming lessons later in life to help put your mind at ease.
Wear something comfortable and explore new experiences
One myth related to adult swimming lessons is that ‘everyone must wear a traditional swimming costume’ to take part. This is not the case at all. If you want to feel more comfortable in the pool or in lessons, there’s nothing stopping you wearing a long-sleeved t-shirt, shorts, leggings or anything that makes you feel confident to take the plunge.
Swimming lessons are also a great way to broaden your horizons – Alfredo has tried diving and had many more experiences on holiday than he ever would have due to a lack of confidence when in the water before his lessons.
