Clark completes clean sweep at Midland Masters Championships

The 2015 Midland Masters Championships at Leamington Spa saw five short course Masters records broken and an incredible individual achievement for local swimmer Trevor Clark.

Competing in the 60-64 Yrs age group at Newbold Comyn Leisure Centre, 61-year old Clark of Kenilworth Masters swam in all 16 individual events and won gold in all 16 as well as adding four relay medals to walk away from the meet with a total of 20.

Judy Wilson world record midland Masters ChampionshipsThere were also four British records and one world record at the meet with Commonwealth medallist and five-time gold medallist from last year’s World Masters Championships in Montreal, Judy Wilson, lowering her own 70-74 Yrs 50m Butterfly world marker with a 37.13 effort.

Birmingham Masters swimmer and national champion Keith Ingram bagged a hat-trick of British records in his first year in the 75-79 Yrs age group, setting new markers over 200m Butterfly (3:52.27), 200m Individual Medley (3:18.18) and 400m Individual Medley (7:25.10).

Finally, City of Derby’s Ted Evans – competing in his first year of 80-84 Yrs age group – set a British record 1:58.64 to take gold in the 100m Breaststroke.

Meet Director Tony Ward  said: “The event went like a dream, all down to good team work, using people how know what they are doing and who understand masters swimming.”
