Volunteers needed for exciting roles at National Open Water Championships

News and Updates

Volunteers are welcomed to be part of the front of house team at both the Swim England Open Water National Age Group and Masters Championships this summer.

A number of front of house team members, including medal bearers, VIP hosts and event runners, are being recruited for the two events, which will take place at Rother Valley Country Park and Nene Park on Monday 5 August and Sunday 1 September respectively.

Battle for national titles

The National Age Group and Masters Championships are the premiere competitions for both age group and masters swimmers alike in England and the front of house team members are key to ensure the event is a success.

Sharon Lock, National Development Officer for Open Water, said: “We are always looking for opportunities to engage people who have a passion for our sport and who want to develop by taking advantage of the roles and experience we can offer.”

All volunteers will be supported by the front of house team manager and will work collectively to support the event staff throughout the day with a number of responsibilities, including – but not limited to – supporting athletes registering for their events, providing competitors and spectators with information about the venue and event, and helping manage merchandise sales.

Gain experience and learn new skills

Claire Coleman, Swim England Head of Volunteering and Pathways, said: “Volunteering and giving time to help others is hugely rewarding.

“By volunteering at our national events, individuals have the opportunity to gain valuable experience, learn new skills and meet new friends.

“There are a variety of volunteer roles available, so whatever your background or interests, there is suitable role for you. Each role plays a key part in making sure athletes and spectators enjoy the best possible experience.

“No prior experience is required as training and support is always provided, and new volunteers are always welcomed with open arms.”

To apply for any of the front of house team roles at the Masters or Age Group Open Water Championships, please visit the Careers in Aquatics page for more details. Applicants must be over 16-years-old and applications close two months prior to the event.
