Additional warm-ups added to National Winter Championships schedule

Changes have been made to the event schedule for the Swim England National Winter Championships 2021 to allow for additional warm-up periods.

After consultation with swimming coaches, the decision has been made to add a further warm-up during sessions 1A, 3A and 5.

There will still be a warm-up session at the beginning of each day with no changes to the 9am start times.

On the opening day of action, Friday 3 December, there will be a break in heats swims at approximately 10.10am in both the male and female pools with the additional warm-ups to start at 10.15am.

Racing will recommence at 11.40am in the male pool and 11.30am in the female pool.

Additional warm-ups during Saturday’s session (3A) will start at 10.50am in the male pool and 10.15am in the female pool. The action will restart at 11.40am and 11.45am respectively.

Session 5, which will take place on Sunday, sees the additional warm-up in the male pool start at 10.45am and the additional warm-up in the female pool start at 11.45am.

Racing will continue at 1pm in the male pool and 12.45pm in the female pool.

As a result of those changes, the start times of for Friday and Saturday’s session B have been altered. The approximate start times for those sessions are:

Male pool

  • Friday – session 1B – 2.15pm
  • Saturday – session 3B (and remainder of session 3A) – 1.40pm

Female pool

  • Friday – session 1B – 2pm
  • Saturday – session 3B – 2.30pm

The start times for all finals sessions have also been moved on by 30 minutes and will now start at 5pm on each day of competition.
