Leah Crisp shatters personal best at National Winter Championships

Leah Crisp will be aiming to deny Holly Hibbott a Swim England National Winter Championships double.

City of Leeds’ Crisp was the fastest qualifier in the 400m Freestyle, beating Stockport Metro’s Hibbott by 0.18 seconds.

Crisp, 17, knocked a massive 5.34 seconds off her personal best as she clocked 4:10.33 to take top spot in the heats, with 19-year-old Hibbott, who won the 800m Freestyle title on day one, narrowly behind in 4:10.51.

Loughborough University’s Abbie Wood was third quickest in 4:11.34, just ahead of Nova Centurion’s Polly Holden (4:11.87) and Ealing’s Phyllida Britton (4:13.35).

St Peters AUS’ Shami Robinson (4:13.59), Wycombe District’s Emilia Sansome (4:13.82), Leicester Sharks’ Michaella Glenister (4:13.87), Plymouth Leander’s Laura Stephens (4:14.31) and Nova Centurion’s Freya Colbert (4:14.42) will also be battling for the medals in the A Final.

Sanchez puts on another impressive display

Kayla Sanchez put on yet another impressive display at these championships as she qualified fastest for the the Women’s 100m Individual Medley.

The High Performance Centre Ontario swimmer finished in 59.75, 2.89 seconds clear of Newcastle’s Jane Brown who was the second fastest qualifier in 1:02.64.

Loughborough University’s Emily Crane clocked 1:02.71 to finish third quickest in front of Mount Kelly’s Niamh Robinson (1:02.90) and Bournemouth’s Kayla Van Der Merwe (1:03.27).

Also reaching the A Final were Mount Kelly’s Athena Clayson (1:03.46), the Loughborough University pair of Anna Doughty (1:03.83) and Rebecca Burton (1:03.86), Guildford’s Amy Hodgson (1:03.96) and Hamilton UAE’s Rosie Morgan (1:04.08).

Yuri quickest in 100m Freestyle heats

In the Men’s 100m Freestyle, High Performance Centre Ontario’s Yuri Kisil was the quickest qualifier in 47.32.

That was almost a second faster than City of Sheffield’s Elliot Clogg (48.21) with hardly anything separating the Bangor duo of Jordan Sloan (48.35) and Jack McMillan (48.37).

Bath University’s Thomas Dean (49.02), Bangor’s David Thompson (49.08), the Bath University pair of Calum Jarvis (49.19) and Thomas Kingham (49.21), Millfield’s Brodie Williams and Hatfield’s Harry Constantine (49.27) also reached the A Final.
