Swim England seeking ‘inclusive and inspirational’ leader to be new chairperson

Swim England has launched its search for an ‘inclusive and inspirational’ leader to become chairperson of its board.

Sue Smith has held the title on an interim basis since Mike Farrar stood down from the position last October to focus on his work supporting the NHS.

Now Swim England is working with recruitment agency Perrett Laver to find a permanent successor for the voluntary role and help enable the recognised national governing body to bounce back following the coronavirus pandemic.

Candidates will demonstrate strategic acumen, bring a track record of performance, risk and resources management and will be commercially astute.

They will be proactive in considering the views and needs of others, providing inspiration, support and constructive challenge to effectively evaluate and promote consensus.

Inclusive participation

The job advert states: “Swim England is seeking our next chairperson to lead and guide the board, helping us drive forward our vision of a nation swimming.

“The new chairperson will share our resolute commitment to enabling a positive bounce back following the pandemic and after a period which, for many, will have been their longest out of the water.

“They will seize the opportunity to reiterate our mission and, working with the Executive and wider Board, support not only returning members but encourage yet greater, more diverse and inclusive participation in aquatic sports across England.

“With strong values based around quality, purpose, togetherness, fun and resourcefulness, we are looking to connect with inclusive and inspirational leaders who will be proud advocates and ambassadors for Swim England.”
