Celebrity mum Stacey Solomon on why she keeps swimming during pregnancy

Celebrity mum Stacey Solomon has hailed the benefits of swimming while pregnant.

The Loose Women panellist is an ambassador for the Swim England Disney-inspired family fun swim sessions that are being launched at 250 pools across the country next month.

She has been active in the pool throughout her third pregnancy and has revealed how being in the water has been the perfect form of exercise.

In a post on her Instagram account announcing her support to the Disney-inspired family fun swim sessions, Stacey said: “Swimming is one of the only exercises I’ve found really comfortable.

“It has allowed me to really get involved in chasing and playing with the children in the last few months of my baby growing!”

She added: “We absolutely loved our sneak peek of a Disney-inspired family fun swim session.

Well-established physical exercise activity in pregnancy

“The 45-minute sessions are perfect for 3-11 year olds and include 10 exciting Disney-inspired games based on essential swimming skills – the boys were jumping in like Buzz Lightyear!”

According to the Health and Wellbeing Benefits of Swimming report, published by Swim England, ‘swimming and aquatic exercise is frequently recommended to pregnant women because of the reduced risk of falling’.

It states: “Swimming and aquatic exercise can make an important contribution to women’s health.

“Swimming/aquatic exercise is a well-established physical exercise activity in pregnancy and appears to be a safe choice for women with uncomplicated pregnancies.”

The NHS also advise that swimming is a good form of exercise as the water will support mums-to-be’s increased weight.

Some swimming pools also provide aquanatal classes with qualified instructors. To find your local pool, visit the Swim England Poolfinder.
