City of Bristol finally get hands on National Age Group team gold

City of Bristol have finally got their hands on the Swim England Synchronised Swimming National Age Group Championships free team gold medal.

They agonisingly missed out on the 13-15 years title in the 2018 competition when they were adjudged to have performed too many acrobatic lifts in their routine.

A two-point deduction imposed for the infringement saw them drop from first place to third in the rankings.

But they made up for that disappointment as they sealed top spot at Manchester Aquatics Centre with a total score of 123.7318 – 65.4667 for the routine and 58.2651 for the figures.

Abbey Wilcox, Cajsa Johnson, Isabelle Bowyer, Laurel Allen, Lilly Todd, Nia Rushton, Rhiannon Hobbs, Sarah Perks and Zoe Dimond were all part of the victorious City of Bristol squad.

Todd said: “Last year, we were crying right now – we thought we had won gold but that wasn’t the case.”

And Allen added: “We worked do hard, thought we had got the gold and were then given a penalty – we were so upset.

“That moment was horrible but now we’ve got gold, we’re so happy.”

City of Bristol were 3.324 ahead of City of Salford Synchronised Swimming Club, who scored 120.5994 points.

Alicia Cox, Amy Kenny, Cienna Bhatti, Ellie Alder, Katie McNeill, Libby Taylor, Mollie McDermott and Rhiannon Woodhouse finished with a total of 63.9667 for their routine and 56.6327 for the figures) to take the silver medal.

Reading Royals, who won the gold medal in 2018 following Bristol’s points deduction, had to settle for the bronze medal this time.

Alice Broomfield, Amelia Gelder, Charlie Razzell, Emilia Wood, Lottie Moghul, Madeleine Brown, Martha Crawford, Mia Palmer and Rebecca Saunders scored 63.7000 for their routine which, when combined with their figures total of 53.4199, saw them finish on 117.1199 points.

London’s win gives Lily third title

In the 12 years and under free team event, London Regional Synchronised SC were triumphant.

The victory gave Lily Halasi her third gold medal of the championships following success in the solo and figures events.

Halasi was joined by Annabelle Sangiorgio, Daria Foronova, Jessica Hinxman, Ola Czarnowska and Shameiah Nanton scored 55.9000 for the routine.

Their figures total of 57.9132 gave them a combined score of 113.8132, which ensured they were 2.8716 ahead of second placed Reading Royals SSC.

Their team of Beatrice Askar, Florence Blinkhorn, Francesca Pringle and Katherine Boitsidis finished with a score of 110.9416 (53.9333 routine and 57.0082 figures).

Henley Synchronised SC were the bronze medallists.

Annie Skaanild, Emma Buckley, Eva Narewska and Zara Warren ended on 106.7131 points after scoring 49.8000 for their routine and 56.9131 for the figures.

Commemorative gold for Swansea’s mixed duo

In the 13-15 Mixed Duet, City of Swansea Aquatic Club’s Rosa George and Ioan Gravell won a commemorative gold medal.

Their total of 47.4000 put them 1.3333 clear of the Atlantis duo of LeAnne Tomblin and Ranjuo Tomblin, who scored 46.0667 to take the Swim England national title.

Aqualina take 12 years mixed duet crown

In the 12 years and under mixed duet, Aqualina Synchro Club’s Kiarra Janikova and Maxwell Sewell took the gold with a total of 48.7333.
