Kate Shortman leads way in Junior FiguresApril 22, 2017
National Age Group champion Kate Shortman led the way in the Junior Figures competition to kick off the National Synchronised Swimming Championships 2017 in Nottingham.
The 15-year old City of Bristol swimmer scored 73.2655 to finish top of the pile and secure her spot in Sunday’s Free Solo event.
Shortman’s Duet partner Isabelle Thorpe also impressed to sail over the 70 point marker in Nottingham, finishing second on 71.6582.
Third through was Rebecca Richardson, who won bronze behind Shortman and Thorpe in the 15-18 Yrs Free Solo at last year’s National Age Group Championships.
Richardson scored 69.5091 to progress while City of Bristol’s Greta Hampson was fourth in Figures on 68.6545.
The Free Solo and Free Duet competitions will take place on Sunday in Nottingham.
The top four competitors from the senior Tech Solo on Saturday will also progress to the Free event.
