Two free routine golds for Britain on final day

Jeanne Ansley and Brighton Dolphins SC secured two free routine golds for Britain on the final day of the London 2016 European Masters Synchronised Swimming Championships.

Free routines are longer than the Technical events, and have no required moves, which allows for more creativity in the choreography.

Team events can have between four and 10 swimmers, and not all swimmers have to be involved in every element of the routine, however they must not touch the floor or sides even if they are not involved.

Free Solo results

Ansley’s gold came in the Free Solo routine, where she was awarded 100.4167 to win the 70-79yrs age group.

Susan Innes of Out to Swim performed a brilliant routine to finish between her two French rivals (111.9001), taking home a silver in the 60-69yrs age group.

In the 30-39yrs age group, Zoe Cooper of Walsall also claimed silver for the Brits, just under half a point away from taking gold (141.1001). Louise Ross of Rushmoor came away with bronze for her score of 138.9333.

Andrea Holland was the final swimmer to take a medal on the final day. The Rushmoor swimmer claimed bronze in the 50-59yrs age group, scoring 118.9167.

Holland has only just returned to the water in the run up to London 2016, after being coached by Asha Randall alongside Duet partner, Carolyn MacDonald.
